Why “All Yours God”?

“All yours God.” Most times I don’t feel or realize the implications of that fact.  I suspect that I’m not alone in this. So, why this website title “All yours God”? Well, I’m becoming increasingly aware of something I’ve known for a long time. That being, God is the creator and owner of it ALL (Colossians 1:16-17; Romans 11:36). This fact gives me comfort and motivation.

You may say, “well, duh!” or maybe you have your doubts. Well for me the last six months or so has helped me realize that everything is God’s … the “good”, the “bad”. It all belongs to Him and is to be used for his glory and He will, in turn, work all things for our good as we seek to do His will (Romans 8:28).

The last six months have been a time of loss and change for me. I lost a parent after, praise God, a very quick fight with cancer. I had a friend who after some physical, and thus I’m sure emotional, trials gave up the fight and the life God gave him. If that were not enough, I had a position change at work.  Through all this, God recalled to my memory many things that brought and continues to bring me comfort. For instance, as Christians we have hope and know that there is more to life than this physical life, that we’ll be reunited to glorify God one day (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14), that that reunion will not be long in coming even if we have a long life – just a little while and we’ll be reunited (Hebrews 10:37). But the one thing that keeps coming back to mind in all these trials and the everyday stuff of life is “it’s ALL yours God.”

God used the song “All Yours” by Steven Curtis Chapman to help remind me of this fact and help me through. The forth verse and chorus read:

I’ve walked the valley of death’s shadow
So deep and dark that I could barely breathe
I’ve had to let go of more than I could bear
And questioned everything that I believe
But still even here
in this great darkness
A comfort and hope come breaking through
As I can say in life or death
God we belong to you.

And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
From the stars in the sky
To the depths of the ocean floor
And its all Yours, God, Yours, God
Everything is Yours
You’re the Maker and Keeper, Father and Ruler of everything
It’s all Yours

Yours (New Verse) Steven Curtis Chapman

It is my hope that through this site I can encourage myself and others to have and keep the true perspective of who we are and who God is.  I believe that if we have a correct understanding of this, we will know God as our Lord and Savior, we will use all our God given resources for His glory, and we will experience joy that surpasses our circumstances (Philippians 4:6,7).

Grace and Peace
